Welcome!
Each of the tabs above will tell you more about me and things I have worked on in the past, areas my degrees are in, and about me. I have a diverse background and a multitude of experience and interests. In my spare time, I also read a lot of books and run a book review blog at: https://thebroll7.wordpress.com . Check it out for reading reviews and suggestions!
As made clear by my background, I also have a deep love for museums, our shared histories, and libraries. I have fallen in love -plenty of times- with house museums, space and science museums, music museums, natural history museums, and any other type you can think of. I love the public aspect of museums, but also the "behind-the-scenes" work that goes on and have been fortunate to have had several opportunities to work in this area. I love helping the public, in general, especially when it comes to answering questions and finding solutions. I am proud of the fact that if there is a question, I will find a way to answer it.
In 2019, I received my Ph.D. from Arkansas State University. My dissertation focuses on the tabletop role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons and the ways that it works with or against ideas of gender and sexuality throughout culture, history, and within heritage. I began playing D&D in the fall of 2014 and have been a fan since then. My own love for games doesn't start there. I credit my Memaw and Mom for my initial fascination with the form of entertainment. At an early age, I was exposed to arcade-style stand-up PacMan, the original NES Super Mario Bros, and the 1987 gold-cartridge "The Legend of Zelda." Games, although they have evolved now to include tabletop board games like "Splendor" and console-based first-person shooters like "Destiny," are still an important part of my life. This is precisely why I chose to cover a topic like Dungeons and Dragons in my dissertation.
I love hearing from other gamers! Tabletop, live-action, console, PC, online, etc. Feel free to contact me; let's chat about what you play and why!
